Busy week for Academy lads

13 May 2016|Tottenham Hotspur

Our Academy players will today (Friday, May 13) jet off to the Netherlands to take part in the NextGen Series over the weekend.

Taking place at the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam, the tournament will see involvement from the youth teams of clubs including Barcelona, Ajax, Galatasaray and PSV Eindhoven.

We’ve been drawn in Group B along with PSV, Ajax Cape Town and Ghanaian side Right to Dream.

Proceedings get underway for us against PSV at 3pm local time on Saturday, May 14, with Ajax Cape Town (11am local time) and Right to Dream (4pm local time) our opponents on Sunday, May 15.

The knockout stages will take place on Monday, May 16.

Keep an eye out here on each day during the tournament to keep up to date with our progress.

Elsewhere, Samuel Shashoua and Jaden Brown have been in action for England Under-17s in recent days, helping the Young Lions reach the quarter-finals of the European Under-17 Championships.

As previously reported , the pair featured in England’s 2-1 defeat to Sweden as they got their Group C campaign underway last week but there were better fortunes for Steve Cooper’s side on Monday (May 9) as they beat France 2-0 in their second outing of the competition in Azerbaijan. Attacking midfielder Samuel entered the fray on 79 minutes with the Young Lions already two goals to the good while Jaden was an unused substitute.

On Thursday (May 12), Jaden was the one to step off the bench as England defeated Denmark 3-1 to book their place in the last eight. The left-back’s introduction came midway through the second period while Samuel remained on the bench.

The Young Lions will face Spain in the quarter-finals on Sunday.
