    The Game is about Glory

Strong performances from Spurs teams participating in big tournament

At a recent tournament, our State Premier-level Spurs 02 Navy shrugged off the blistering heat at the Dublin Fall Classic, and racked up 4 convincing victories to win the U15 boys division with an impressive 17 goals for & only 1 goal against.

In between games on the Saturday, the boys showed great club spirit by heading over to a separate tournament venue to support a fellow Spurs team. They cheered on the U19 girls Spurs 98 White as they routed Walnut Creek 7-0.

Spurs 98 White had a solid overall performance at the tournament, but fell just short of the U19 girls title with a 2nd place finish.

In neighboring Livermore, Coach Scott Allen's Spurs 03 Navy kicked off a dominating performance at the 2016 Adidas Invitational with a 4-0 victory over local rivals Mavericks 03 Black.

They would remain undefeated and rack up 10 goals (while only ceding one) on their way to becoming champs of the U14 boys premier division.

This tops off a good month for Spurs 03 Navy: At 3-0 in fall league competition, the team currently sits atop the 10-team NPL 1 West division, in which it is also the only team left that is still undefeated. Good job, 03 Navy!

    Honorable Mention

A couple of other notable achievements by Spurs teams at the tournament:

On Saturday morning, Christian Garcia's U19 Boys Spurs 98 Black earned a 4-0 win over Clovis Crossfire in the Sunnyvale Medina Fall Classic. The team would go on to win their bracket, but fell to Union City in the semi-finals.

In league play, Coach Danielle Johnson's U13 girls Spurs 04 defeated Bay Oaks 04 White 3-0 at El Cerrito High (with substitute coach Giuseppe Interrante at the helm).

A big round of applause to these, and all the other Spurs players that are working hard, supporting each others' efforts, and achieving team and personal victories every day across our practice fields and game fields.
