Our third and final match of the USA tour will see us take on the 1998 MLS Cup winners Chicago Fire at their 20,000 capacity stadium, Toyota Park.

  • >

  • Founded on October 8, 1997, the team caused quite an upset in their very first season as they were not only crowned MLS champions but also scooped the US Open Cup to win the ‘Double’, under the guidance of first Head Coach, Bob Bradley.

The Fire have been present in every MLS season since, winning four US Open Cups, a record in the MLS era and one short of the all-time tournament record.

High profile former players include the likes of Hristo Stoichkov, Brian McBride, Paulo Wanchope and Cuauhtemoc Blanco, while our own young midfielder Grant Ward is currently on loan with Chicago.

Without a trophy since their 2006 Open Cup triumph and just one appearance in the last four post-season MLS Cup play-offs, The Fire are now led by former Ipswich Town defender and Canadian international, Frank Yallop, who will be hoping to bring the glory days back to Toyota Park.
