Consistent, popular full-back with his own inimitable style, 'Benni' joined us from French side RC Lens in 2006.

He passed the 200-appearance milestone for us in 2012-13 although injury restricted him to 22 appearances in all competitions. That included 12 starts in the Premier League and another goal, a cracker against West Brom in September, 2012.

Born in Arras, France, Benoit played 73 games in total for his first club Lens before making the move to White Hart Lane.

Injuries hit Benoit hard in his early days at the Lane, but once he'd settled into the team in the 2008-09 season, he started to show what he's all about.

Over the course of the campaign, he made 36 appearances in all competitions and earned rave reviews from the manager and fans alike, who voted him the Club's Most Improved Player of the season.

In February 2009, Benoit earned his first international honours for Cameroon, the country of his father's birth.

By November of the same year, he had become a key member of the Indomitable Lions side that earned qualification for the 2010 World Cup Finals in South Africa.

He scored his first goal for us on the opening day of 2009-10 - a belter against Liverpool - to kick-start our run to Champions League qualification. He played made 34 appearances in all competitions including 29 starts in the league before joining the Cameroon squad in the World Cup, where he started all three matches.

The 2010-11 campaign was another productive one for Benoit, as he played in 45 of our 53 matches. Indeed, he started 45 of our first 48 games before a late hamstring injury ruled him out for the last three weeks of the season and he was our only player to start all 12 matches in the Champions League.

Only a late shoulder injury denied him the chance of an ever-present campaign in the Premier League in 2011-12.

Benoit dislocated his shoulder at QPR in April, 2012 and that meant he missed our last four PL matches, having played in all 34 up to then. He made another six appearances in cup competitions.
