TREMENDOUS WIN - ANDRE

Andre Villas-Boas reflected on Sunday’s North London derby victory and beamed: “It’s a great feeling.”
A quickfire one-two from Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon in the 37th and 39th minutes were enough to secure a 2-1 win in another absorbing encounter against Arsenal at the Lane.
Per Mertesacker responded seven minutes into the second half but we had the best chances after that – Gareth fired over from close range, Jermain Defoe just wide, Gylfi Sigurdsson looked to square rather than shoot and then Gareth hit a stinger straight at Wojciech Szczesny.
Arsenal responded with Aaron Ramsey shooting wide from a good position and Theo Walcott curling a free-kick just wide, but Hugo Lloris wasn’t seriously tested, even in seven minutes of added time.
The win made it four on the trot in the Premier League, where we’re now 12 matches unbeaten and have just one loss in 16 since November. We also climbed back into third place, two points ahead of Chelsea, seven ahead of the Gunners in fifth.
“It was a tremendous win,” said Andre.
“The game started very intensely and in the first 30 minutes, both teams found it hard to find the space to break through.
“Fortunately the breakthrough came to us with the first goal. We did ever so well to score straight away again in the same fashion, making the runs in behind - two great moves.
“It was a pity they came back into the game in the second half and it was very open, it became end to end. Arsenal found some inspiration but we found better spaces to go on the break as well. In the end, we deserved to get the win.
“It’s a great feeling for the club and the fans. This is a great rivalry and when you can win a game like this, it can be inspiring.”
