PLAYERS 'IMMENSE' - ANDRE

Andre Villas-Boas paid tribute to the players for their efforts in putting Villa to the sword on Sunday - not least after the long trip to Greece in the Europa League earlier in the week.
Nine of the team that started against Panathinaikos on Thursday night lined-up again against Villa and produced a dominant display to secure a 2-0 victory.
Goals from Steven Caulker and Aaron Lennon made it four-successive wins in the Premier League as we go into an international break.
“We were tremendous, bearing in mind the effort we put in in Greece,” said Andre.
“To perform at this level and intensity is very gratifying for everyone and the players have been immense in their dedication and ambition. This is an important win.”
We had to work hard for victory with the breakthrough coming in the 58th minute but statistics of 23 efforts at goal highlight another positive performance.
“We were superior in the first and second half but we knew that scoring first would unlock doors, so we fought hard to get that first goal,” added Andre.
“We made a tremendous start, then the game balanced itself a little, but we were always on the attacking side. We created a lot of chances in the first and second half and it’s a deserved win.
“Overall, the performance was great. We spoke at half-time for the players to persist with their level of intensity and ambition because they would get their efforts rewarded. I’m extremely happy for them.”
