Gylfi Sigurdsson is targeting silverware after joining 'a massive club with fantastic players'.
The Iceland international midfielder made his ambitions clear as he spoke to us for the first time after his summer switch from Hoffenheim.
“I’m delighted to be here,” said Gylfi after training on Tuesday. “It’s a massive club with fantastic players.
“This club is always improving. There is massive ambition from the board and the players are really ambitious as well. We’re all looking forward for the new season to begin.”
Gylfi made quite an impression in a loan spell in the Premier League at Swansea last season when he scored seven goals in 19 appearances and won the Barclays Player of the Month for March.
“The main target at Swansea was to stay in the league, here at Spurs, it’s a big club and we aim to win titles and silverware,” he added.
“I think the most important thing is that we get off to a good start in the Premier League, get a good momentum and then we can take that into the Europa League and then the FA Cup. We want to play for silverware in every competition we are in.”
Gylfi has enjoyed the start of pre-season training with Andre Villas-Boas and his coaching staff.
“He’s great, very positive about coming here and the players have really enjoyed it," he said. "It looks good with him and all of the staff. I can’t wait for the season to start.”
