GARETH EXPECTS CARLISLE TEST
Posted 25 September 2012 1:00pm
Gareth Bale expects a tough encounter as we kick-off our Capital One Cup (League Cup) campaign with a third round tie at Carlisle on Wednesday night.
Carlisle have lost just twice all season and once in their last seven in all competitions, including a 2-1 win at Coventry City last time out in League One on Saturday.
Managed by Greg Abbott, the familiar name of Danny Cadamarteri, the former Everton striker, hit the winner at the Ricoh Arena, moving the Cumbrians up to 10th.
“It will be tough,” said Gareth,. “It’s one of those games where they have Premier League opposition and they will be 100 per cent fired up to prove they can play against the top teams.
“We have to show our quality, do a professional job and try to get the victory.”
We kick-off at Brunton Park at 7.45pm. The match will be decided on the night, so if it’s a draw, it will go to extra time and then penalties if required.
If we’re successful, the draw for the fourth round of the competition will take place on Sky Sports after tomorrow night's Manchester United vs Newcastle tie.
