Andre Villas-Boas praised Brad Friedel for what could turn out to be a crucial save in the first leg of our Europa League, Round of 16 tie against Inter Milan.
We were in complete control at 3-0 up through Gareth Bale, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Jan Vertonghen but Inter had a golden chance to register a precious away goal in the 74th minute at the Lane.
A quick free-kick released Rodrigo Palacio on goal but Brad stood firm to block the in-form striker's low shot with his feet.
That away goal would have handed the Italians a huge boost ahead of the second leg at the San Siro next Thursday but it wasn't to be and 3-0 was only just reflective of our dominance as Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic made a string of fine saves to keep the scoreline down.
"At the end, it’s moments like this that can make the difference and the goalkeepers, Hugo and Brad, have been decisive in these moments," said Andre. "When they’ve been called into action, they are able to make great saves.
"Brad did ever so well on Palacios' chance for 3-1 but we had so many opportunities as well. The performance was great."
