DAWS DELIGHTED WITH WIN

Michael Dawson admitted 'sometimes it's all about the three points' after leading the resistance as Liverpool piled on the pressure in Wednesday night's 2-1 win at the Lane.

The skipper was outstanding in central defence as the Reds tried to force an equaliser having got back into the game via Gareth Bale's unfortunate own goal in the 72nd minute.

We held on for back-to-back wins to move up to fifth in the Premier League with the foundations for the victory laid in another lively start to the match, where we went 2-0 up inside 16 minutes with goals from Aaron Lennon and Gareth.

"We started superbly but we were a little fortunate in the end," reflected Michael.

"That start gave us something to hold on to and we needed that with the way we played in the second half.

"But you can't always have things how you would like them in football.

"Not many teams come here and do what Liverpool did to us. It wasn't our best performance, but we picked up the three points and football’s all about that sometimes. We're happy with the win."
