Emmanuel Adebayor and Bongani Khumalo had their African Cup of Nations' dreams ended at the weekend.
Central defender Bongani captained South Africa as they bowed out at the quarter-final stage on penalties against Mali on Saturday.
Striker Ade then lost out with Togo in extra time against Burkina Faso on Sunday. It was their first appearance in the last eight.
South Africa took the lead through Tokelo Rantie in Durban but Mali skipper Seydou Keita levelled in the second half. It stayed that way in extra time before Bafana Bafana missed three-successive penalties to go out 3-1 in the shoot-out.
It was a game of few chances as Togo took on Burkina Faso in Nelspruit on Sunday.
Ade had two sights at goals and came close to breaking the deadlock in the second half when his header was creeping home before Saidou Panandetiguiri cleared off the line.
He later had a shot saved by goalkeeper Daouda Diakite before Jonathan Pitroipa struck the only goal of the game in the first half of extra time.
Mali take on Nigeria and Burkina Faso face Ghana in Wednesday's semi-finals.
