West Ham were the visitors to White Hart Lane on a cold Wednesday night but it was the Spurs supporters in the ground were warmed up by an breathtaking display from Pleat's side who were in the running for all three domestic competitions.

Belgian international Nico Claesen gave Spurs the lead on six minutes when he latched onto Ardiles pass and chipped Phil Parkes from the edge of the area.
Despite dominating proceedings with Hoddle once more in majestic form, Spurs didn't make it 2-0 until the 71st minute when the England star curled a 25-yarder into the West Ham net.
That goal really opened the floodgates and Clive Allen, who went on to score 49 goals in this season, bagged a hat-trick in the final ten minutes to cap off a memorable night.
