Burnley would prove tough opposition - they finished runners-up in the league, we were third - but Bill Nicholson's men were not to be denied at Wembley.
Jimmy Greaves opened the scoring early with a sharp turn and finish only for Burnley to level via Jimmy Adamson just after the break.
Bobby Smith put us 2-1 up when he collected John White's cross and rifled home and it was all over when Burnley defender Tommy Cummings handled in the box and Danny Blanchflower slotted home cool as ever from the penalty spot.
Spurs: Brown, Baker, Henry, Blanchflower, Norman, Mackay, Medwin, White, Smith, Greaves, Jones.
