Like the FA Cup in 1991, this was another against-the-odds triumph at Wembley.

Like the FA Cup in 1991, this was another against-the-odds triumph at Wembley.

All looked lost when, with just an hour on the clock, Justin Edinburgh reacted to Robbie Savage's tackle, the City midfielder clutched his face and the long-serving defender was shown the red card.

In a war of attrition, with Leicester determined to snub out the threat of wing wizard David Ginola, chances were few and far between.

As the clock ticked away surely Martin O'Neill's men would take advantage of the extra man and tired legs on the famous hallowed turf.

But then one last attack. Steffen Iversen burst down the right channel and into the area, his cross was parried by keeper Kasey Keller and there was hero of the hour Allan Nielsen to dive head home the winner.

A match to forget, an afternoon to remember.

Team: Walker, Carr, Edinburgh, Freund, Vega, Campbell, Nielsen, Ginola (Sinton), Anderton, Iversen, Ferdinand.
