On Saturday, July 1 2017, AIA and Tottenham Hotspur coaches
delivered a one-off session for a charity situated in Phuket, Thailand. Forming
after the 2004 Tsunami, which resulted in
the death of almost 9000 residents. The purpose of the charity was to rebuild
the local community, in particular the school which was destroyed by the
earthquake. The charity creates vocational opportunities by teaching,
developing and enhancing language skills to 1200 students. The aim of this is
to help these individuals build and grow their life and employability skills,
with the view of securing future employment in Phuket’s tourism industry.
The Tottenham Hotspur coaches delivered two coaching clinics
to 30 students, both boys and girls. Graham Haslam, the charity organiser, said
“The impact that coach Anton had on the students was phenomenal, none of the
students have ever had the opportunity to partake in a football session run by
English Premier League coaches and they truly appreciated it.”
Blackwood, Tottenham Hotspur coach, concluded “This was an unbelievable
experience and it’s the reason why I do the job I do, to see the joy on the
children’s faces was incredible. Hopefully I get the opportunity to visit again
as I believe with AIA and Tottenham Hotspur’s support we can impact these young

Two Global Coaching coaches visited Jiangsu Suning FC, Nanjing, China, this past weekend and delivered three 2-hour sessions to over 50 players of the local community. Feedback from parents and coaches was extremely positive - despite language barriers - the Global Coaching team were able to transmit the 'Spurs Way' ideas and knowledge to the players, aged between 7 - 13 years old. The rationale of the programme was to identify players for the Thanyapura Training Camp which is due to take place in February 2018.
