Posted 04 September 2012 09:00am
The Tottenham Hotspur Foundation has filled the cohort for the first year of the Leadership Through Sport programme, with 15 selected students now recruited and enrolled on the course.
The students have already started their first finance qualification at the College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London and taken part in an induction.
During the 15-month programme, students will achieve business and sports coaching qualifications and become peer mentors for local children.
By the end of the programme, students will have gained an A Level 2 Certificate in Accounting, an A Level 3 Diploma in Accounting, and an A Level 2 in Maths and English Functional Skills.
They would have also completed a module on employee Rights and Responsibilities and been given opportunities to complete sports coaching qualifications, including an FA Level 1 Football Coaching badge.
David Pinchin, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Leadership through Sport, said: “I am delighted that after much hard work by a lot of people, the Leadership Through Sport programme is about to commence.
“We feel that we have recruited some excellent young adults. We look forward to the programme further developing their leadership skills such that they can, in the near future, benefit themselves and their communities.”
