'I THOUGHT IT WAS IN' - JD

Jermain Defoe was convinced he’d opened the scoring at QPR on Saturday.
The striker let fly from 20 yards in the sixth minute, only to see his effort touched onto the post by a flying Julio Cesar in the QPR goal.
Even more impressive was to see Cesar up on his feet to keep out Emmanuel Adebayor’s follow up.
Cesar denied JD again in the second half with another reaction save as it ended goalless at Loftus Road.
Andre Villas-Boas and the players all agreed that the game might have been different had Jermain’s early effort hit the back of the net.
“I thought it was in,” said Jermain. “That was an unbelievable save and he then made another from the rebound from Ade.
“If that chance had gone in it would have changed the game because they would have had to come out more.
“They made it tough for us, got men behind the ball for the majority of the game and tried to hit us on the counter-attack.
“It was a difficult game, a tight pitch, they get close to you and they worked hard. There wasn’t a lot of space and we had to try and be patient and get the goal.
“It was also important to keep a clean sheet and not lose the match. It’s a good point and we’ll take it.”
