CLINT'S EURO VISION

Posted 06 November 2012 11:31am

Clint Dempsey knows the importance of Thursday night's Europa League fixture against NK Maribor at White Hart Lane.

All four teams in our Group J earned a point in Matchday Three of the competition - we drew in Slovenia, while Panathinaikos scored a late equaliser against Lazio.

That means it's a case of 'as we were' in the table going into Matchday Four - Lazio top on five points, Maribor on four, we’re on three and Panathinaikos on two.

Victory over Maribor at the Lane would take us into at least second place going into the final two fixtures - a trip to Lazio at Rome's Olympic Stadium on November 22 and the finale against Panathinaikos at home on December 6.

Maribor come first though in a key encounter at the Lane.

The Slovenian champions impressed on home soil and took the lead before Gylfi Sigurdsson secured a point in a 1-1 draw.

"They scored first, but we showed the character to get back in the game and put ourselves in a position where we are still right in there in the group,” said Clint.

"It’s in our hands and that's all you can ask for.

"Everything is still to play for and it’s about taking care of business in the next three games."
