CAULKER CALLED INTO SENIOR ENGLAND SQUAD
Posted 18 March 2013 1:37pm
Steven Caulker has been called into the senior England squad for World Cup qualifiers against San Marino and Montenegro.
The central defender joins Roy Hodgson's squad following the withdrawal of Rio Ferdinand.
Steven, 21, was initially named in Stuart Pearce's Under-21 squad for friendlies against Romania and Austria.
The Three Lions travel to San Marino this Friday and then onto Montenegro on Tuesday week, March 26, for qualifying matches in Group H. Montenegro currently top the group. Both matches kick-off at 8pm UK time.
Steven, capped eight times at Under-21 level, already has a full cap to his name - and made quite an impression with a goal on his debut in a friendly against Sweden last November.
We have four players in the senior squad - Steven, Jermain Defoe, Scott Parker and Kyle Walker - plus four still in the U21 squad - Tom Carroll, Danny Rose, Adam Smith and Andros Townsend.
