GREAT PLAYERS
Billy Minter
One of the great players of our early history, Billy Minter was a virtual ever-present from 1908 until the First World War in 1914.
He was then a regular in our Second Division title-winning team in 1919-20 before retiring.
Minter became trainer in 1920 and when Peter McWilliam moved on he was offered the top job in 1927.
Unfortunately we were relegated in his first full season and despite his hard work, the burden of trying to get us back in the top flight took its toll and he retired in November 1929.
Held is high esteem, he was offered the role of assistant secretary, which he held until his death in 1940.
