Arthur Grimsdell
INDUCTED INTO THE HALL OF FAME
Recognised as one of the finest wing-halfs ever, Arthur Grimsdell captained our 1921 FA Cup winning side.
Initially a centre-half, manager Peter McWilliam converted Grimsdell to the position he would excel in for 18 years at Spurs, despite losing four years of his career to the First World War.
On his return from the war Grimsdell led us to the Second Division championship in 1919-1920, claiming 14 goals along the way, and won his first full England cap in February 1920.
We were top of the First Division in October 1925 when disaster struck - Grimsdell broke his leg and did not return until April 1927. That injury naturally affected his performances and in April 1929 Spurs decided to release one of their greatest players. He went on to take a player-manager-secretary role at Clapton Orient.
