Content:
The Access to Volunteering fund was a grant programme piloted by the office of the Third Sector in the Cabinet Office to increase the involvement of disabled people in volunteering. We work across three projects, supporting 60 disabled people from Barnet, Enfield, Haringey and Waltham Forest, with a view to increasing the number of disabled people considering volunteering. The projects were aimed at learners working up to entry level 3. The project course covers topics such as, Communication, Teamwork and Leadership, Health and safety and Healthy Living.

Why needed:
•    We are one of the only formal volunteering training programmes associated to professional football clubs that focus on people working to entry level 3.
•    Access to Volunteering offers crucial support to an estimated 7000 disabled volunteers.
•    An estimated 67% of the disabled people involved in Access to Volunteering funded initiatives were new to volunteering.
•    Access to Volunteering and the funding organisations received created sustainability - over 25 organisations said that they would continue to support disabled volunteers.
•    We are the only organisation to have worked across three different Access to Volunteering projects/areas.

Impact:

•    The three projects were delivered to 60 disabled people and based within inclusive community settings.
•    A resourceful tool kit has been created for the project through the support of the Haringey Sports Development Trust.
•    100% of participants were given the opportunity and support to volunteer locally on completion of the 15 week course.
•    33% of all participants have guaranteed work placements within each borough.
•    This is one of the first formal volunteering training programme associated to a professional Football Club that focuses on supporting disabled people working up to entry level 3.

The Haringey Sports Development Trust is delighted to be supporting Tottenham Hotspur Foundation to provide better Access to Volunteering opportunities for disabled people. The project tool kit will ensure that many organisations are able to provide similar opportunities within their local communities.
