Be A Mascot
We thought you might like to know what happens on matchdays with our mascots so we have included a brief run down of the day.
Mascots arrive into our Family Room approximately two hours before kick off. They are then taken into the tunnel area to await the players, they can take one item with them to get signed. Whilst they are waiting they will see the away team arriving and Chirpy usually puts in an appearance at this stage which is great as sometimes it can be a little bit nerve racking and he puts everyone at ease and causes chaos!
Mascots are briefed on what they have to do and when the autographs have finished mascots go back to the Family Room and their parents where they are issued with their kit and tickets and get ready for the game.
Twenty minutes before kick off mascots are then taken back to the tunnel area and wait for the magic bell. This is what the referee rings to let the players know they should be outside and ready to go.
The mascots then walk out with their player, apart from the first and second mascots the other nine will not know whose hand they will hold until the players are by their side!
As they make their way into the pitch the noise is deafening, the players then shake the hands of the opposing team and line up for an official photograph with the mascots. Once that is done the smallest mascot stays with the Captain and the rest follow Chirpy up to the North Stand and then back along the pitch. Our mascots are then taken back to their parents to enjoy the rest of the game.
Don't forget only One Hotspur Juniors can be mascots!
