|NABIL’S TRIBUTE TO MOUSA|
Nabil Bentaleb says he’s relished the chance to hone his craft alongside Mousa Dembele in the heart of our midfield.
The 19-year-old made his full debut in last week’s FA Cup defeat at Arsenal, playing the full 90 minutes alongside Mousa in the engine room.
Nabil was given his chance having impressed in his recent appearances off the bench in the Premier League.
And the youngster said afterwards how the chance to play alongside our Belgian international midfielder has been fantastic for his development.
“I’m proud to play next to him,” Nabil said of Mousa.
“I just listen to what he’s saying because obviously he’s a very experienced player.
“Even in training he’s always giving me advice.”
Nabil, who signed for us after an initial loan in January, 2012, has now made four appearances for the first team in a matter of weeks and admits he sometimes has to pinch himself.
“I went home (to France) recently and my mum reminded me of where I was two years ago,” he said. “Now I am training with the likes of Adebayor, Soldado, Dembele, Lennon and all the guys.
“I know I still have to work hard all the time. I am surrounded by people who tell me that I need to keep putting in the hard work, but I know that myself. That is the only way to succeed.”
