|ANDRE DELIGHTED WITH ANDROS|
Andre Villas-Boas reserved special praise for Andros Townsend after his performance in our 5-0 win against Dinamo Tbilisi on Thursday night.
The winger was in electric form in the Europa League play-off, first leg at the Dinamo Arena.
He opened the scoring in fine style with a 50-yard run and fierce drive into the corner in the 12th minute.
Andros then set-up Paulinho’s first goal for the club, turning his marker inside-out and crossing for the Brazilian to nod home from a couple of yards.
Another burst down the right led to the third goal in the second half as Roberto Soldado converted his cut back from the byline.
Danny Rose curled home the fourth and Roberto completed the scoring with his second goal, this time from Nacer Chadli’s cross.
“Andros had a great game and deserves credit for what he did,” said Andre.
“He’s trained hard and competes (for a place in the team) against the best, which makes it difficult for him, but he’s proved that we can count on him.
“It was a good, solid performance, creating, assisting and with a sense of responsibility. When you have him like this, it’s a good sign for the team.”
