While we are sad to say goodbye to Tom Huddlestone, Steven Caulker, Clint Dempsey and Jake Livermore (on loan), we are delighted to welcome two more new signings, in Etienne Capoue from Toulouse and Roberto Soldado from Valencia. The pair join Paulinho and Nacer Chadli who joined the Club earlier in the summer.
We opened our Barclays Premier League campaign with a 1-0 win at Crystal Palace on Sunday. We started with three debutants at Selhurst Park in Nacer Chadli, Paulinho and Roberto Soldado and it was Roberto who scored the winner from the penalty spot.
Etienne Capoue made it four debutants after joining the action off the bench in the second half. Younes Kaboul also made a welcome return from injury as a late substitute. Andre Villas-Boas was delighted with the victory.
"I'm extremely happy," said Andre. "It was a good performance, we created lots of chances and we were unlucky not to put the game to bed after the goal. It's always difficult to go to Palace and to perform like that gives us a positive boost of confidence. It's a good three points for us at an away ground and hopefully we can continue with this level of performance." he smiled.
"We deserved the win, the lads deserve credit and now we focus on Dinamo Tbilisi, another important game."
