Lewis Holtby has thoroughly enjoyed playing for our Under-21 team.
The midfielder has scored twice in two full appearances as he’s built his match fitness following a knee injury.
Lewis certainly provided the spark for a memorable comeback against West Ham at Upton Park, lashing home from 30 yards as we recovered from 2-0 down to win 3-2.
He scored again but this time in vain on Monday night as the team suffered a rare loss against Norwich in the Barclays U21 Premier League at the Lane.
“It’s a mini Premier League, usually end-to-end and really exciting to play for this team,” said Lewis.
“I only trained once with the squad before West Ham and initially it’s difficult, because I hadn’t really played with any of them and you don’t know their games but in the end, in the match, it all clicked and it was really fun to play with the guys.
“We have some massive talent at this club and if they keep progressing like that, these lads will have few problems.”
