Andre Villas-Boas has praised Harry Kane after the young striker’s vital contribution to our Capital One Cup triumph over Hull City on Wednesday night.

The England Under-21 international scored in extra time to bring us back on level terms, after the Tigers had taken a 2-1 lead.

It came after his earlier shot cannoned off the bar at the end of regulation time, as we went close to winning the tie with the scores poised at 1-1.

And at the end of the night, Harry successfully despatched his spot kick, as we won 8-7 on penalties.

In the wake of what was the youngster’s fifth first team appearance of the campaign, Head Coach Andre was full of praise for Harry.

“He played a great game,” said Andre. “He’s been training excellently, and he really deserves to be competing for a place in this team.

“He faces tough competition, but is doing extremely well this season.

“He’s highly motivated in training and had an impact. It was very important for us to see him out there at this level.”
