Club Historian Andy Porter has studied last season's matches and produced a fascinating series of stats, facts and figures.

We'll run more of these statistics on our official website next week...

Our Club record tally of 72 Premier League points from 38 fixtures ranks as our fourth best return ever in the top flight.

The record books show our best haul under the three points for a win system as being 77 points when finishing third in Division One for season 1984-85, however, that does not take into account the 42 match season.

Our points per game rating for 2012-13 was 1.89 - beating our previous best in the Premier League era of 1.84 set in 2009-10 – whilst the 1984-85 campaign rates at 1.83 points per game.

The three seasons which exceed our 2012-13 rating were 1966-67 – 1.90 finishing third – and the League Championship winning campaigns of 1960-61 (2.31) and 1950-51 (2.02). Our Second Division title seasons also yielded high ratings: 1919-20 (2.43) and 1949-50 (2.10).
