Martin Jol is delighted with what he's seen of Didier Zokora so far - fans will get their first view of the Ivory Coast star at the Lane against Real Sociedad on Saturday.

The boss confirmed that Didier is set to make his Lane debut in the pre-season friendly against the famous La Liga side with fellow World Cup participants Paul Robinson, Aaron Lennon, Jermaine Jenas and Lee Young-Pyo all likely to touch back down on home soil for the first time this summer.

Didier joined us from St Etienne in France after starring for the Ivory Coast at the World Cup in Germany and has so far played in pre-season friendlies against Cambridge City and Borussia Dortmund.

“We've seen already that Zokora is a terrific player, an all-rounder,” said Martin.

“He's the complete player. He can pass, he can win the ball and he's good on the ball as well.

“It's a big thing, your first game at White Hart Lane. The fans will be able to see what he's all about and I think he's a quality player, one of the best in his position in Europe and he showed that in Germany as well.

“You never know – perhaps he will need a couple of months to get used to England, maybe he'll do it straight away. From what I've seen already, Benoit (Assou-Ekotto) has done well and he's getting better and better and that perhaps shows you can go to a new club and deliver straight away.”
