Christian enjoyed a productive year at the Riverside before leaving at the end of the 1999-2000 season to try his luck at Liverpool.
Christian joined Boro after an unhappy spell at Milan and says the effect the Teesiders had on his career is similar to that of Tottenham now.
"I had a really good time at Middlesbrough. The people over there were really great to me, it was my first year in the Premier League and it wasn't easy.
"It was a change from Italy and I had a great time and played quite well.
"It was similar, like my move now from Liverpool to Tottenham. I hadn't had a good time at Milan and had to leave, then Bryan Robson gave me my confidence back and I think I did well for them."
Maybe a call to Incey will save Christian from a friendly little kick in the game.
"I have to call Paul Ince before the game - we had a good time together and I hope I can reach him before the game because we had a good friendship over there."
Christian Ziege says he has fond memories of his year at Middlesbrough and is looking forward to catching up with his mate Paul Ince on Saturday.
