The German international has battled his way back from a serious thigh injury that initially struck on Boxing Day last year with complications halting his first comeback in the summer.
Monday's reserve outing against Wimbledon was his third 90-minute stint for the reserves in 13 days and he now returns to the senior fold again.
Caretaker boss David Pleat confirmed this morning: "Christian Ziege has now played three reserve games so he'll come into our squad.
"He's played within himself, three games as a left-back in a back four in the reserves and done more than adequately. His use of the ball is very good."
Christian Ziege is back in the squad for only the second time this year for Sunday's Premiership clash against Middlesbrough.
