Pat Holland took a reserve side down to Leyton Orient for a private friendly match, with giving Christian a run-out the principal reason for the outing.
Colin Calderwood caught most of the game after helping out with first team training and reports that the German international is looking in pretty good nick.
"Christian Ziege did another 65-70 minutes and we're still looking after him.
"He is a phenomenal athlete. When he does his running he doesn't look as though he's trying or even moving - and you think that until anyone has to go and run with him.
"I'm on about the rest of the players, because when he goes on a long run to build up his aerobic capacity, he just keeps cruising and cruising along."
So how long will it be before we see that cultured left peg back in Premiership action?
"He's obviously just building up his strength, which will take quite a while for it to come completely back to his left leg," added Colin. "He's got to be positive about the situation, enjoy training and feel that he's progressing - and hopefully he is."
Christian Ziege completed another stint of playing time on Tuesday as he stepped up his rehabilitation following thigh surgery.
