Ziege the headmaster

Posted on 3 August 2001  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

In assessing the impact of Christian Ziege since arriving at the Lane, one aspect of the German international’s play has struck Glenn more than any other — the fact that he plays with his head up.

"He’s got one great asset for me," revealed Glenn. "Give me a player who plays with his head up anytime, and this lad plays with his head up and sees the picture even before he receives the ball.

"I think if you’ve got players like that you have got a chance."

Glenn gave Christian a full 90 minutes at Reading and was impressed with his contribution to the win, but was wary of the fact that he hasn’t played many full games in the last six months.

"I was vigilant of the fact that he hasn’t played much and considered taking him off because I wouldn’t want to get him injured. He’s a fit lad, and if you look at him physically, he’s an athlete as well as a very good technical player."

Ledley King, who played on the left side of our defensive three, was impressed with the recent addition to the ranks and is looking forward to forging a productive link with Christian in the new season.

"Definitely," said Ledley. "He’s a class player and I’m going to enjoy working with him."
