Ziege storms back

Posted on 18 February 2002  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Christian Ziege set the Lane alight in the first half of our FA Cup win against Tranmere - then admitted he didn't think he would last half-an-hour!

The German star made a stunning return after a month out as we beat Rovers 4-0 in the fifth round tie at the Lane.

He opened the scoring after eight minutes, created the second goal for Gus Poyet, curled a 20-yarder just wide and set up golden opportunities for both Teddy Sheringham and Les Ferdinand.

The crosses continued to flow from his lethal left foot after the break as Sheringham and Poyet added the third and fourth goals.

"I have to be honest, after the first eight minutes I didn't think I could last 30 minutes," said Christian.

"It was quite intense and it's natural if you come back from injury you don't really know how you will feel. It went well. To score was fantastic and I had an assist on the second goal. I was delighted with the first half.

"The important thing was to go through to the next round, we played well and we don't have any injuries.

"I was a little tired towards the end but the good thing was to play. No matter what you do in training you need games. I'm glad the manager gave me this game before the final."

Cardiff here we come!
