The German international stylist - out since Boxing Day following emergency thigh surgery - has stated for a number of weeks that it would be a dream for him to play a small part before the season closed.
He realised that dream with an hour on the clock against Blackburn and can be forgiven for having a satisfied feeling after such a heavy defeat.
"When I came on I felt really good," reacted Christian. "I know we were 4-0 down but I have to seperate that on this occasion because I was just happy to be back.
"I played for half an hour, I felt okay, I tried hard and maybe I looked quite fit - but I'm far from match fit.
"I was just so pleased that was able to play the last half an hour."
The wing-back was also elated over the warm reception he received from the White Hart Lane crowd.
"For me, this is what you play every day for - that reaction means I must have done something. If there is no reaction it means the fans haven't recognised you.
"That was an honour and I have to say thank you to the supporters for giving me that reception.
"I will be working during the summer and that will be good for me. I am looking forward to next season and hopefully I will be ready."
The beacon of light on what was obviously a disappointing final day of the season was the sight of Christian Ziege, once again, galloping down the left flank at the Lane.
