Our German wing-back featured for just over an hour of his nation's 1-0 friendly defeat to Wales in Cardiff and he reported that, while he still felt a little discomfort, he expects to be ready for Germany's World Cup campaign.
"I still feel a little bit of pain, but nothing to worry about too much," said a relieved Christian, speaking to us from Cologne.
"The medical staff are treating me every day for nearly 12 hours so there shouldn't be a problem.
"I felt alright on Tuesday and I will be fit to face Austria on Saturday."
Christian underwent a minor operation to remove a floating piece of bone back in his homeland after the West Ham game in order to speed his recovery.
"I had a small operation in Berlin and the Doc from Tottenham was there with me, he saw everything and he said it was fantastic work from the specialist."
Christian reported that Simon Davies was his usual sharp self in Cardiff and revealed himself as one of our midfield stylist's biggest fans.
"He was good. He had a big chance to make it 2-0 when he was one against one with the goalkeeper, but Oliver saved it.
"He's always good, I'm a big, big fan of Simon."
It is clear that you the fans are in agreement with Christian - you've voted Simon as our Player of the Month for April.
Simon took 61 per cent of the votes - almost 6,000 in total - to beat Ben Thatcher (13%) and Kasey Keller (8%).
Christian Ziege says he is ready for World Cup action after coming through his first game since picking up a ankle injury against West Ham on April 13.
