We have been tracking Liverpool’s unsettled left-back throughout the summer and latest reports in the national press on Thursday suggested any move had been held up because Liverpool are refusing to pay up his contract.
Boss Glenn revealed: “I can’t give you much more of an update at this moment. It is a long, long haul.
“There are other people we are looking at and if the Ziege situation doesn’t come through then there are others we’re looking at.
“It’s not dead and buried by any means at this moment and we are hoping that we can get something sorted. I want to get people in quickly so that we can work on things in pre-season.”
Meanwhile, Glenn added that there were no developments on Alan Kelly’s potential arrival from Blackburn Rovers following Ian Walker’s departure. “There is no latest but obviously we’re looking for another goalkeeper,” he said.
Glenn Hoddle has insisted that the Christian Ziege deal ‘is not dead and buried’.
