Left-back Zeki, currently sidelined with a groin injury, has been a regular name on our teamsheet in the cup competitions this season, contributing to our total of 13 clean sheets from 19 games in all competitions.
Our impressive number of shutouts played a crucial part in our solid start to the season but with the return of Premier League action this weekend following the international break, the 21-year-old has stressed the importance of keeping a tight ship in order to make progress.
“It bodes well,” Zeki said. “It shows the teams that we play that we’re not vulnerable and that we can defend, and we’ll continue to do that.
“It is a positive for the defenders keeping clean sheets because, although as a team you obviously need to score, you’ve got to defend as well to help win games.
“We’ve got a lot of high-calibre players in the group, very good players – excellent players in fact – and we’ve got the personnel to allow us to take part in lots of different competitions.”
