The fiery frontman looked back to his best in grabbing a goal as Leeds opened up their Premiership campaign with a creditable 2-2 draw against Newcastle on Sunday.
Bobby has been in England U21 squads with Smith and his raw talent and aggression has clearly left a mark.
"He's got an edge about him and he's always 110 per cent," said Bobby.
"He's a winner. You need players like that in any team and it will be a tough test for us.

"He has a will to win - that drive can make you an amazing player and it does in his case. He's a quality player and his attitude and work ethic is tremendous."
Meanwhile, Bobby insisted he's desperate for more after his first taste of the Premiership on Saturday.
He made quite an impact after coming on as substitute against Birmingham City - making two headers out of nothing early in the second half but unfortunately missing the target with his best chance in the final minute.
"I was delighted to get on and was happy enough to do that, but to get on an do quite well was pleasing," reflected Bobby.
"I was disappointed one of the chances didn't go in and we didn't come away with a draw or even a win but sometimes it goes like that and I'm sure I'll have other chances.
"I was excited by the experience and I want more now. I was chuffed to get on but I want more and I'll be working hard to get it."
Bobby Zamora reckons Alan Smith's will to win takes him to another level as a striker.
