Youths' reserve chance

Posted on 21 February 2001  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Chris Hughton will hand youth a chance in Wednesday night's reserve team encounter against Watford at Vicarage Road.

With injuries hitting the first team the likes of Simon Davies and Alton Thelwell may not be risked while Chris Armstrong, Stephen Carr, Ben Thatcher, Darren Anderton and Chris Perry are not ready for a return to action.

Ian Walker will be the most senior player in the side in goal alongside first team squad members Willem Korsten, Matthew Etherington and Anthony Gardner but the likes of Destin Makumbu, John Jackson, Steven Ferguson, Yannick Kamanan (pictured) and Andrew Burke are all in the frame.

Boss Chris said: "If I look at the situation with the first team, which obviously takes priority, then we won't have some of the players who have been involved in the last few games.

"That gives us the opportunity for some of the younger players, the older YTS players and the young professionals, to be involved.

"On paper we won't be as strong as we've been in the last few games but it gives a chance for the likes of Destin Makumbu, John Jackson, Yannick Kamanan, Steven Ferguson and Andrew Burke will have his first game with us. It will be a very young side."
