Your top five goals of the season: No5

Posted on 12 June 2005  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Robbie Keane's spectacular winner against Brighton in the FA Cup kicks-off our goals of the season countdown at number five.

Brighton produced a sprited display in this third round encounter at the Lane in January and a replay looked on the cards with the scores level at 1-1 with only eight minutes left - enter Robbie.

The Irish star received a pass from Erik Edman with his back to goal on the edge of the penalty area, held off Guy Butters, swivelled and volleyed over his shoulder into the top corner.

Michael Stafford-Jones
was one of the fans to vote for this goal. "I think Robbie Keane's goal against Brighton in the FA Cup was the goal of the season. To produce such a moment of skill to effectively win us the match at such a crucial time just illustrates his ability at temperament at the highest. A technically brilliant finish, my favourite goal of the season, elevated to the overall best goal by the circumstances it was scored in. Brilliant."

Look out for the numbers four, three, two and one in our countdown running on the rest of this week - we'll have the winner and the full rundown of all the goals you voted for on Friday.
