Your top five goals of the season: No4

Posted on 14 June 2005  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Dean Marney's glorious goal against Everton on New Year's Day is at number four in our goals of the season countdown.

It was a stunning full home debut for the midfielder as we tore apart an Everton side destined for the Champions League.

Dean opened the scoring, Reto Ziegler doubled it only for Everton to pull a goal back before the break.

We played some of our best football of the season to forge 5-1 ahead in the second half with Deano's second goal the icing on the cake. Picking the ball up on halfway from Michael Carrick, he ran 20 yards before curling into the top corner.

Here is what some of the fans had to say. Tom Newey: "My personal favourite goal of the season has to be Dean Marney's second for us against Everton at the Lane. It was an amazing finish from quite a distance, which for a young guy with very short Premiership experience was a very confident thing to do. Martin Jol gave him the chance and Dean repaid all our confidence in him with a superb game and two brilliant goals."

Rob Marven: "For me it has to be Dean Marney's second against Everton because it was a great performance by the whole team that day. I was sitting South Upper (normally I sit lower) and the view I had was magnificent, the way he ran with the ball from the halfway line the moment it left his foot I knew it was in and it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up."

Look out for numbers three, two and one in our countdown the rest of this week - we'll have the winner and the full rundown of all the goals you voted for on Friday.
