Our raiding wing-back, in the best form of his career at Spurs, is pushing for a place in Howard Wilkinson’s starting line-up against Finland at Barnsley.
He then travels with the squad for another qualifying match in Albania on Tuesday night.
England have kicked off their group with two draws and Young knows they need to get wins on the board.
The 21-year-old declared: “These are vital games, we need six points, nothing less, and the gaffer has told us as much. We’re aiming to win both.
“There will be a lot of pressure against Finland because we need to capitalise on our home games as much as we can.
“We drew away in Finland even though we had a man sent off so there is no reason why we shouldn’t beat them at home.”
Meanwhile, Luke’s team-mates Ciaran Toner, Simon Davies and Ian Hillier all hope to be in Under-21 action on Friday night.
Ciaran is in the Northern Ireland squad to face Czech Republic while Simon and Ian are in Armenia with Wales.
Luke Young has set a six-point target for England Under-21’s crucial European Championship qualifiers against Finland and Albania.
