Young-Pyo Lee still has his sights set on a top six Premier League finish this season, but knows we must start picking up vital home wins.

We face Sunderland at the Lane tomorrow looking for our first league win of 2008, and our Korean full-back is desperate to kick start the year.

But Young-Pyo is hopeful that our progress in three cup competitions will help improve our league form so that we can start to climb the table.

He said: “Every competition is important to us but the Premier League especially because, if we want to play in Europe every year, it’s important that we get in the top six.

“We will never give up on trying to get into Europe next year. If we win all our home matches and as many away games as we can, we can get into the top six.”

Young-Pyo remembers our opening day defeat against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light but insists it will be a different story this time around.

He added: “We still remember the first match of the season, which was very disappointing, but this time we’re going into the game with a lot of confidence.

“There are no easy games in the Premier League, every game is very tough and all the teams are strong, but if we’re at our best in this game, we can get the three points.”
