Young named in U21s side

Luke Young will earn his ninth cap for England Under-21s on Thursday night.

Our versatile defender has been named in Howard Wilkinson’s starting line-up for the friendly against Mexico at Filbert Street.

Young winger Matthew Etherington, 19, will be on the bench.

The pair will then travel to La Manga for training before the Euro Championship qualifier against Greece on June 5.

Starting line-up: Kirkland (Coventry), Young (Spurs), Naylor (Wolves), Terry (Chelsea, captain), Bramble (Ipswich), Davis (Fulham), Prutton (Forest), Dunn (Blackburn), Christie (Derby), Ameobi (Newcastle), Defoe (West Ham).

The game will be televised live on Sky Sports, kick-off 7.45pm.
