Younes looking to extend Euro run

Posted on 7 November 2013  - 11:30

Younes Kaboul hopes to continue his remarkable record in Europe for us when we entertain FC Sheriff tonight.

Younes has a great record in Europe for usIn action against Dinamo Tbilisi earlier this season

Our hard-working defender has played his part in our fantastic run of clean sheets so far this term – 13 from 17 games in all competitions – but his record in our colours on the continent is equally impressive.

Of the 14 European games Younes has played for us so far, we have only lost once – a 2-1 home defeat to Getafe in 2007 – while we have kept clean sheets in the Frenchman’s last nine consecutive European outings in Lilywhite, stretching back to our 3-0 win against Werder Bremen in the Champions League in November, 2010.

“I hope we will carry on like that when we play Sheriff,” proclaimed Younes. “I’d be delighted if we could do that and pick up the win.

“For us as players, for the club, for everyone it is a good opportunity to go forward in this competition as we want to go to the end and to win it.

“I’m feeling better and better (after returning from injury and playing the full game against Hull City in the Capital One Cup last week) and hopefully I will carry on from last week’s game this week.”
