Younes Kaboul is targeting victory over the Orlando Pirates in our second match of the Vodacom Challenge in South Africa tonight.
We kicked-off the tournament with a late defeat against Kaizer Chiefs in Polokwane on Saturday.
Now we travel to the spectacular Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit to meet the reigning SA Premier Soccer League champions Pirates, kick-off 7.15pm UK time.
Fitness is always key in pre-season, but Younes insists we don’t want to suffer two defeats on the trot.
“Pirates and Chiefs are both very good teams and the Chiefs were very fit,” said Younes. “For us, Saturday was the first game of pre-season and now we’ll see more about where we are.
“We have to try and win this game, but every game we play we try to win. We’ll do that again and see what happens.”
Younes said things were progressing well in pre-season. “We really enjoy it here (in SA), the weather is great and the most important thing of course is to get fit for the new season.
“We’re working hard and we’re all getting there.
“When you are on holiday, one week before it’s finished you start thinking abut pre-season because you know it will be tough.
“That’s the case again this season and it will always be the same. It’s our job though, we go out training every morning to get ready for the season.”
