Younes Kaboul highlighted the importance of keeping a tight defensive ship after Sunday’s 4-0 triumph against Queens Park Rangers.

A brace from Nacer Chadli, coupled with goals from Eric Dier and Emmanuel Adebayor, saw us register an emphatic victory in our first Premier League home game of the new season.

Younes and company kept Rangers out at the other end – making it two clean sheets in our opening two top flight games and leaving the French defender full of confidence after a fine start to the campaign.

“When you’re a defender, a clean sheet is the most important thing because you don’t want to concede and you don’t like to concede,” said the 28-year-old.

“Even when you’re winning by a large amount as we were against QPR, you have to work hard and be even more focused and that’s what we did.

“It was a comfortable win and I thought we played very well from the start to the end with some sharp movement. Every player did his job very proficiently and everyone is very happy.”

Younes also praised defensive colleague Eric for his contributions over the first two games of the Premier League season, the versatile defender following up on his dramatic late winner at West Ham by heading home our second goal against the Hoops on Sunday.

“It’s a dream start for him,” added Younes. “He’s shown that he’s able to defend and attack as well with the two goals he scored. He’s put in some brilliant tackles as well and we are all glad for him.”
