Mark Yeates has few doubts that Mark McGhee will have every intention of winning at the Lane in Saturday's FA Cup tie.
Yeatesy spent three months on loan at the Seagulls a year ago and is hoping to feature this weekend.
He said: "Mark McGhee is the manager who gave Keano his league debut at Wolves and gave me my league debut as well and I know he'll want to come here and win but he'll also know it's a good opportunity for lads who won't get a chance in the Premier League.
"He'll tell them to enjoy themselves but at the back of his mind he'll want to cause an upset. I know what the lads are like, they'll go out, work hard and they'll want to win, no doubt about it."
Mark believes he's closing in on his second first team performance having impressed on his Premier League debut at Wolves on the final day of last season.
Since then, he's been out on loan at Swindon, played well for the reserves and been a regular in squads without stepping onto the park again.
"Last season many thought was going to be the start of things but I know what it's like at a top football club like this, we brought in a lot of quality players and you have to wait for your chance.
"I think a lot of people are waiting for me to play and, fingers crossed, it would be great to get 20 minutes against Brighton."
